木越洋 Yo KIGOSHI

PROFILE
Born in Sizuoka prefecture, Yo Kigoshi got the second prize at the Japan Music Competition in 1975. After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, he joined the New Japan Philharmonic as a Principal Cellist. He continued his study at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and got a prize at ARD International Music Competition in 1978 and Geneva International Music Competition in 1979.
After returning to Japan in 1981 he got a position of principal cellist at the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Now he serves Professor of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
I’ve played on Ohse’s bow modeled after F.X. Tourte for a long time. Brilliant sound! It just feels like playing on an Old French bow and I am very satisfied.
